Why the shirts?
Icons are the haiku of the information age. Drowning in information, their simple shorthand speaks straight to us.
The challenge of combining these simple elements to express current political or philosophical ideas as directly as possible led to the idea for the designs. T-shirts as the everyday way we publicly articulate things important to us seemed a good vehicle.
Almost everything here can be found in a common icon set or made out of simple shapes, but have diverged from this a couple of times.
The shirts are designed and hand printed in Tasmania on a home made screen press made of recycled building materials, using shirts of 100% organic cotton AS Colour shirts.
Even the capital to start the business is recycled - fully sourced from selling various things secondhand to get going.
